My goal in counseling is to empower clients to gain a better quality of life and interpersonal well-being. I see people holistically, and help clients work towards cognitive, emotional, and spiritual health. For me, counseling is about people processing through life together. My counseling style involves allowing freedom for laughter and tears, conversation and silence, logic and emotion.
I enjoy working with adolescents, couples, and adults.
In my counseling sessions, my goal is to pair specific techniques with a client’s needs. I use a backdrop of cognitive behavioral techniques along with more creative means of self-expression and healing. Ultimately, I believe that God is the author of all healing, and that it is by His grace that we are healed and restored.
Upon graduating with my Masters in Community Counseling in 2008, I opened a private practice and worked with adolescents, adults, and premarital and marital couples. I have also worked extensively with adults with developmental disabilities in residential settings, enrichment group settings, and individaul counseling settings. Additionally, I have counseling experience working with college students, leading a life skills group for residential pregnant teens, and co-facilitating court-ordered rehabilitation.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 7 years working with adolescents in churches, camps, and Young Life programs in both Texas and Colorado. I currently reside in Nacogdoches, Texas with my husband and daughter.
